On behalf of the Disability Studies Austria (DiStA) network, the Crip Collective invites you to the 5th Austrian Inter- & Transdisciplinary Dis/Ability Research Workshop (DiStA Forschungswerkstatt), taking place online on 29 May 2026.
We welcome all Disability Studies-oriented researchers, students and practitioners to join, connect and discuss.
Austerity hits. Disability Studies push back.
This year’s focus is on disability studies in times of austerity. As social, care and health systems are cut back, and disability culture spaces shut down for economic reasons, we ask:
What happens to disabled people’s autonomy, participation and survival? And how do we resist?
Our special invitation goes to critical, disability-led contributions across disciplines and beyond academia. The research workshop aims to create a shared space for collectively exploring practices of resistance and counter-knowledge.
